By its name 'Syntactic Ability' refers to the rules of languages. It requires organization of words in correct order in a sentence. Vocational english is often easier in form but writing skill needs standard form of grammar. Hence in syntax we need to focus ourselves with grammatical aspect of language. Correct sentences are structured form of syntax, semantics and pragmatics.

Topics of Syntactic Ability

  1. Subject-verb Agreement
  2. Tense Aspect (Past Tense, Present Tense & Future Tense)
  3. Parallel Structures
  4. Clauses
  5. Modifiers
  6. Conditionals
  7. Phrasal Expressions (Phrasal Nouns, Phrasal Verbs, Phrasal Adverbs, Phrasal Adjectives, Phrasal Prepositions)
  8. Shifts (tense, number, person)
  9. Transformation
  10. Varieties

Syntax are the rules to form sentences or phrases from the combination of words.

Semantics is a pillar of lexicography that studies about relation between words and their meanings.
Pragmatic deals with the usage of language socially.

Lets clarify Syntax and Semantics with the help of example:

Earth are spherical.

In this sentence the subject 'Earth' is singular and the verb 'are' is plural so the sentence is syntactically incorrect. This type of error is detected by computer programs.

The Sun will shine from East.

In this sentence syntax is perfectly correct. But it is semantically incorrect by its meaning. This type of error may not be detected by computer programs.
